Clos Cibonne, Cuvée Tradition Rouge 2023
Clos Cibonne have not only garnered a cult following as one of the world's best rosé producers, but they also almost exclusively use a long-forgotten grape, Tibouren, in their wines. Notoriously hard to grow, the unique location of the Clos Cibonne vineyards means they are able to harness the Mediterreanen heat and ocean breezes to successfuly grow Tibouren and make some sensational rosés - a feat which has also earned them 1 of only 18 of Provence's "Cru Classe" statuses. Cuvée Tradition Rouge 2023 is the domaine's red wine. Made from the same blend as their rosé, i.e. 90% Tibouren and 10% Grenache, it makes for an incredibly interesting, wine-lovers wine; almost like a crossing of Nebbiolo and Pinot Noir. Packed full of fresh red fruits; raspberry, strawberry, cranberry; there is a real spiced note of pepper and clove and a herbaceous edge to it as well. Such a cool wine and one best paired with game or mushrooms. Drinking well now but will develop over the next 10 years.
